San Francisco Bay Area Gifted Homeschoolers

Welcome to San Francisco Bay Area Gifted Homeschoolers (SFBAGHS).

We are a group of families homeschooling intellectually gifted children in the San Francisco Bay area. We share resources, organize real-life get-togethers, and serve as a local support network for families navigating the exciting and sometimes turbulent place where giftedness meets homeschooling.

We have a monthly gathering in Redwood City, which is centrally located to our Bay area members, who generally live within a one-hour radius. Individual members organize various field trips, classes, and get-togethers. We maintain a Google Group that includes private Web pages and a mailing list. We share a Google calendar as well as a member database.

We welcome San Francisco Bay area families who are interested in helping us create a thriving community of families with gifted children who learn at home, and who enjoy getting together with others. We prefer that we all know each other, and we favor a small group of local and involved members rather than a larger, less participatory group. If you would like to participate in our group, please see our Membership Request page.

Monthly Gathering
We meet once a month in Redwood City from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so that older children and teens can share what they are learning with their peers through computer-based presentations. Other kinds of presentations, such as sharing a story or poem they have written, are also possible. We share a brown bag lunch and kids can bring board games to play when the presentations are finished.

Upcoming gathering dates: September 18, October 16, November 20, December 18, 2009 (we break for summer).
